Improve and develop computer vision algorithms for real-world industrial inspection systems.

Full-time / Part-time Port Talbot / Hybrid Industrial computer vision

About ProMaterial

ProMaterial is an AI-driven advanced manufacturing company developing intelligent inspection and manufacturing technologies for high-performance materials used in electric vehicles, renewable energy, robotics and industrial manufacturing.

The role

We are looking for an AI Algorithm Developer specialising in Computer Vision to help advance our industrial inspection technology.

  • Algorithm Improvement: Analyse existing vision models, identify failure cases, and improve their accuracy, robustness and generalisation.
  • Algorithm Development: Develop our computer vision pipeline across model training, evaluation, image processing and related algorithmic components.
  • Research and Experimentation: Explore and evaluate new approaches that could contribute to the next generation of our inspection technology.
  • Production Collaboration: Work with the engineering team to validate algorithms using production data and integrate improvements into real-world systems.

About you

  • Strong understanding of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning.
  • Good software development skills.
  • Experience developing, training or evaluating computer vision models.
  • Familiarity with object detection, classification, segmentation, anomaly detection or image processing.
  • Able to analyse model behaviour, design experiments and approach algorithm improvement systematically.
  • Comfortable working independently with real-world datasets and open-ended technical problems.
  • Curious about new computer vision research and able to turn promising ideas into practical experiments.

Experience in industrial vision, manufacturing, OpenCV, model deployment or modern vision architectures would be valuable, but is not essential.

We welcome candidates from both industry and academic backgrounds. Practical technical ability and problem-solving skills matter more to us than any specific qualification.

What we offer

  • Meaningful ownership of a real-world industrial AI system.
  • Hands-on access to production data and deployed computer vision applications.
  • Freedom to explore new algorithmic approaches and influence our future technical direction.
  • Exposure to AI, advanced manufacturing and applied technology projects in the UK.
  • Opportunity to grow with an early-stage technology company as our AI and engineering team expands.
